Virginia Demeritt

Virginia Ann Demeritt, 89, of Piedmont and formerly of White Plains, NY, died on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at her home with her family around her. Born on October 18, 1934, in Piedmont, she was the daughter of the late Davis and Annie (Addison) Price.

After retiring from her job with Sterling Building Cleaning Services and maintenance services for family homes in White Plains, she returned to her hometown of Piedmont.

Ginny was a devoted member of Waldon UMC and served as a liturgist and secretary of the Administrative Council. She was a dedicated worker for many years with Trinity/Waldon Vacaton Bible School. She was involved in the Senior Olympics, Tri-Towns Crop Walk for Hunger, Concerned Citizens and worked for many years with the Grandparents After School Program. She was also a member of United Methodist Women and Church Women of the Tri-Towns.

She is survived by her children, Debra A. Demeritt, Bernard D. Price, and Benjamin L. Price, all of White Plains, NY; two grandsons, Geoffrey Demeritt and Bernard D. Price, all of White Plains, NY; two sisters, Virgie Redman and Phyllis Hooker; and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Demeritt; four sisters, Ida Twyman, Margaret Thompson, Mary Cromer, and Beverly Washington; and a brother, Clifton "Buddy" Green.

Friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home, 31 Jones St., Piedmont, on Friday, February 16, 2024, from 6 to 8 PM. There will be a viewing at Trinity Church from 10 to 11 AM on Saturday, February 17, 2024. A funeral service will follow at Trinity United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM with Rev. Theodore Bessey officiating. Interment will follow in the Potomac Memorial Gardens in Keyser. The Fredlock Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Demeritt family.
