Marilyn Malcolm

Marilyn Carol Malcolm, 75, of Elk Garden, WV, passed away on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at Peace Healthcare at Dennett Road Manor in Oakland, MD. Born on May 9, 1947, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Dorothy Rosalie (Harvey) and Thomas Haywood.

She was married for 51 years to her high school sweetheart, the late Thomas Michael Malcolm. Together they created a beautiful home in Elk Garden, WV. They enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and living on the road less traveled.

Marilyn grew up in Luke and attended Bruce High School in Westernport. She earned an Associate Degree in Social and Behavioral Science at Garrett College in McHenry. She retired from Bausch and Lomb in Oakland, MD, where she was employed for 15 years. She was a true cat lady. She adored her feline friends and never turned a stray kitty away. In her lifetime, she rescued numerous cats and gave them a home, healthcare, and plenty of love. Known for her beautiful blue eyes and incredible smile, Marilyn's energy was contagious. She brightened every room she entered and had a smile for everyone she met.

She is survived by her two sons, Christopher Thomas of Elk Garden and Eric Michael Malcolm and wife Lori of Cuba, MO; a beloved niece, Terri Lee Friend of Oakland; a nephew, Scott Brode of Morgantown; five beautiful grandchildren, Ashley Malone and husband Cliff of Shreveport LA, Amye Martin and husband Josh of Cleburne, TX, Nixon Malcolm of Oxford, MS, Sierra Taylor and fiancé Brandon Miller of Keyser WV, and Mariah Malcolm of Keyser, WV; and eight great grandchildren.

A celebration of Marilyn's Life will be held 11 AM on Saturday, May 13, 2023, in the Elk Garden Assembly of God Church 28 Center St., Elk Garden.
