Mae Caroline Reeves-Novotny, 57, of Westernport, passed away after a two-year battle with brain cancer on Thursday morning, January 11, 2024.
Born on June 20, 1966, she was the daughter of Mary C. (McKenzie) Fanelli of Cumberland,
Maryland, and the late Richard P. "Dick" Reeves. She was also preceded in death by her brother, Richard P. "Dickie Paul" Reeves, Jr.
Our "Sweet" Caroline was a 1984 graduate of Bruce High School in Westernport, MD and a 2000 graduate of Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD. She was the Human Resource Manager for Pay Roll Network, Inc. and a member of SHRM, the Society for Human Resource Management professionals. She was also a member of St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church of Frederick, MD. Caroline loved sunflowers, animals, and had rescued many dogs over the years, including her most recent rescue now with her family, William. She was an avid runner and participated in several 5K benefit runs supporting various causes close to her heart. She loved the beaches of North Carolina's Outer Banks, where she enjoyed the surf and sunsets, driving on the beach, searching for shells, and finding brightly colored sea glass. She also enjoyed cheering on her favorite sports teams, the Baltimore Ravens and the Washington Capitals.
In addition to her mother, Caroline is survived by her beloved son, Andrew Joseph Novotny of Mt. Airy, MD; five sisters, Joy Warren and husband Wayne of Germantown, MD, Jill Gentry of Sierra Vista, AZ, Rebecca Tufano and husband Joe of York, PA, Paula Reeves of Cumberland, MD, and Rachael Reeves and fiance Mark Wigfield also of Cumberland, MD; and her favorite former brother-in-law, Jorge Carrasquillo of Rockville, MD. She is also survived by her beloved nieces and nephews, Brandon Warren and wife Samantha, Lauren Warren, Amanda Tufano, Anthony Tufano, Armando Carrasquillo, Olivia Wigfield; and her great nieces, Avery and Brooke Warren.
Friends and family will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, WV on January 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A memorial service will immediately follow at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Dill officiating. Interment will take place in Restlawn Memorial Gardens at later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family is asking friends and loved ones to donate to their local animal rescue and shelter in Caroline's name.
