Lester Clifford, Jr.

Lester "Skip" Leroy Clifford, Jr., 86, of Piedmont, WV, passed away at his home on Monday, December 12, 2022. Born on February 20, 1936, in Piedmont, WV, he was the son of the late Lester Leroy Sr., and Arizona (Redman) Clifford.

Lester was a graduate of Piedmont High School. He retired from Westvaco, where he worked for over 40 years. He was a member of the First Church of God in Christ. Lester previously held the position of Vice President for Luke Local 676 UPTIU and was a member of the Tri-Town Lion's Club. He enjoyed fishing and when he was younger, hunting. He served as the Mayor of Piedmont for a period of time as well.

He is survived by seven children, Leslie Dawson of Keyser, Tony Clifford and wife Cynara of Staunton, VA, Lester Clifford and wife Alisa of Keyser, Scott Clifford of Cary, NC, Timothy Meade of College Park, MD, Robin Woods of Cumberland, MD, and Nikisha Diehl of Ashburn, VA; nineteen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; nine great-great grandchildren; two sisters, Roslie Twyman of Piedmont and Donna Jean Mobley of Philadelphia, PA; and a special friend, Christine Clay.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Adrian (Vauls) Clifford.

Friends will be received on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 4 to 7 PM at the Fredlock Funeral Home, 31 Jones St. Piedmont. A funeral service will be held at 11 AM on Monday, December 19, 2022, in Trinity United Methodist Church, 34 Jones St., Piedmont, with Bishop Clyde Brown officiating. Interment will follow in the Potomac Memorial Gardens.
