Katherine Ford

WESTERNPORT, MD – Reverend Katherine Veronica Ford, 89, of Westernport, went to her heavenly home on December 19, 2018 at her residence.

Born on November 16, 1929 in “Paw Paw Alley” Cumberland, MD, she was a daughter of the late John Albert and Emma Cora (Hoagiemeyers) Reed. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her four sisters and three brothers.

Katherine retired from Westvaco after 18 years of service working in the Mailroom and as a Maintenance janitor and served as a Reverend for 50 years at many different congregations. She was a member of the Pentecostal Holiness Church of Piedmont, volunteered with several food pantries and loved spending time with her family and church members.

Surviving are her two daughters, Mary Katherine “Kathy” Ford/Hunt, and Frances “Susie” Paterson and husband Rev. Harry Paterson both of Westernport; her sister, Arlene Walker of Eden, N.C.; her granddaughters, Kristen Victoria Miller and husband Russel of Westernport and Mary Ann Thorn,MI and her five great-grandchildren, David, Layla and Nathan Miller and Matthew and Alex Thorn.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Allegany Hospice, W.M. Hospice Service, 1050 West Industrial Boulevard, Cumberland, MD 21502.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at the Piedmont Pentecostal Holiness Church, 62 Second St., Piedmont from 11:00am to 1:00pm. Funeral Service will be held immediately after visitation at 1pm with Pastor Bill and Ruby O’Haver and Pastor Jack Lease officiating.  Interment will be held at a later date.

The Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont is assisting the family with Arrangements.
