John Ferrell

John Ankrom Ferrell, 81 of Underwood Rd, Oakland, MD and formerly of Westernport died on March 28, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Keyser, WV on December 6, 1936. He was the son of the late Rymer F. Ferrell and Shirley (Biggs) Ferrell. He was preceded in death by a child, William Mahaffey.

He was a  former member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Piedmont. He was a graduate of Bruce High School  in Westernport and Catherman’s Business School in Cumberland, MD He retired in 1996 from the Westvaco Corp with 43 years of service as a timekeeper and Foreman at the FPW . He was a veteran of the Navy and a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion in Westernport

John loved Deep Creek Lake where he spent his time with family; fishing, boating and watching the sunsets from his cabin at the lake.

He is survived by his loving wife Helen Ferrell and his children, John Ferrell Jr and wife Lisa, of McHenry, MD ; Karen Ferrell of Westernport, Stacy Miller and husband Randy of LaVale Scott Mahaffey and wife Shelia, Anita Baker, and Maria Carr and companion Dave Taylor of Oakland. His sister, Elizabeth Gainer. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Ashley Ferrell, Nick, Christina and Bryan Ferrell and Krysten and Ryan Miller, Megan Hamerski and husband Ryan, Cody Baker and wife Jessica, Daniel Carr and wife Jessica, and Paige Wotring and husband Tony. His great grandchildren; Reagan Burroughs, Karmyn Ferrell, Hadlye, Hudson and Brooks Hamerski, and Jaxton Baker, Ryder,Harper and Brock Wotring ; and his former wife, Gloria Snyder and husband –in-law Lowell of Bloomington, MD.

Family and friends will be received at the Fredlock Funeral Home in Piedmont, WV on Friday March 30th from 4 until 8 P.M. Funeral services will be held at the Fredlock Funeral Home on Saturday at 11 AM  with  Pastor Scott Robinson officiating. Interment will follow at Philos Cemetery in Westernport.
